My name is Taylan Pince, and Kaizen Musings is my little corner of the internet. I tend to use this patch as a way to self-document my various interests, both personal and professional. It’s also a good excuse to write more, which I enjoy as a strategy for thought exploration and personal growth.

Who Am I?

I am a software engineer who spent the last 25-odd years building products and, increasingly, the engineering organizations that ship them. I started out writing code, spent a stretch of my career on the product side, and these days I lead engineering at scale.

I am currently SVP Engineering at Polygon, where I am responsible for the Wallet, Agglayer and CDK teams.

I joined Polygon through the acquisition of Sequence in February 2026. I had been Sequence’s CTO since November 2023, leading both the engineering and product organizations. During that time we launched Sequence Embedded Wallets and Trails, and I focused a lot of energy on raising the security and operational efficiency of the engineering group as a whole.

Before Sequence, I was CEO at Pera Wallet from January 2022 to August 2023. Earlier in my career I launched and grew a digital product agency that built products for early-stage startups, and I spent many years taking startups from the idea stage to market. I enjoyed the journey and the battle scars that came with it. Most importantly, I got to meet and work with some wonderful people along the way.

I lived in 3 countries so far, and I moved between Europe and North America 4 times. I currently live in sunny Barcelona, Spain with my two daughters and lovely wife. This location appears to be permanent. For now.

Writing

I am a naturally curious person, and I tend to deep dive into specific topics over different periods of my life. I try to document these immersions and summarize my learnings as best as I can, mostly for my future self.

These days most of my professional thinking is about engineering leadership: how to structure teams so they can move fast without breaking things that matter, how to build a security and quality culture that doesn’t rely on heroics, and how to keep engineering and product genuinely aligned rather than merely coordinated.
